Diabetes

Diabetes is a disease of disordered metabolism, usually due to hereditary, resulting in high blood sugar level of the patient. Blood sugar levels are controlled mostly by the chemical in the body known as insulin. The technical name of this disease is diabetes mellitus. This usually happens due to problems in insulin secretion or insulin action.

All the forms are treatable as insulin is now available medically in every corner of the world but there is no permanent cure of this disease.

This disease can cause various complications like hypoglycemia, blindness, permanent nerve damage and poor wound healing especially in the foot causing gangrene.

Once this disease goes out of hands it may even lead to amputation in adults. The patients are required to control on their sweet tooth and decrease their intake of sweet stuff accordingly. The patients are also required to check their blood sugar level everyday and take necessary steps if it is found above the danger level. They are also required to keep insulin with them so in the times of emergency they can immediately consume it.

A person should get checked if he or she has got diabetes or not because this is a silent disease and in most of the cases the patient comes to know at a very late stage of the illness.
